Auta Nasela, a teacher at the Government Science Secondary School Nassarawa-Eggon in Nasarawa State, was killed by gunmen suspected of being armed robbers.

A school employee who did not want to be identified told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday that the attack happened around 8:00 p.m. on Saturday.

He claimed that the gunmen broke into the school and went straight to the deceased's home, demanding money.

According to the source, the deceased fled to his neighbor's apartment but was pursued and shot by one of the gunmen.

He added that another school employee, Timothy Malle, was shot but survived the attack, and that he was rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

Confirming the incident, Ramhan Nansel, the state's Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), stated that it was an armed robbery.

"At around 8:45 p.m. yesterday, a distress call was received from GSS Nassarawa-Eggon stating that hoodlums had invaded the residence of one Auta Nasela."

"Once inside, they began demanding money, but the man fled to his neighbor's house, but one of the hoodlums followed him and shot him."

"The police rushed him to the General Hospital Nassarawa-Eggon, but he unfortunately died while receiving treatment," Mr Nansel, a deputy superintendent of police, added.

According to the PPRO, the police have since launched an investigation into the incident with the goal of apprehending and prosecuting the perpetrators.

He urged members of the public to always provide police with information about criminal elements so that necessary action can be taken.
