Again a bloody clash between suspected
rival cult groups at Ganho compound in Badagry, Lagos, has resulted in the
death of a 26-year-old Yusuf Tijani.
The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. on May 12, and
according to the source, the group chased Mr Tijani to a compound in Ganho Quarters,
Badagry, shot him thrice and walked away.
Sources said Mr Tijani, identified as a member of
Eiye confraternity, was shot dead by a group of young men numbering six and
between the ages of 20 and 25 years from rivalry Aiye confraternity.
“The police from the Divisional Police Station, Badagry, promptly
showed up when contacted but no one (suspect) was found.
“The development has created fear among the area residents,” the source said.
“This is viewed as a reprisal attack on Eiye confraternity members by Aiye
group.”
He added, “A similar reported attack at Agbovipe on May 11
happened to member Aiye Confraternity at the hours.”
The source said that the victim’s corpse was removed
and deposited at Badagry General Hospital mortuary while the investigation
continued.
When contacted, Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos Police
Command, said the command was aware of the incident.
He assured the town residents that the police would do everything
within the law to arrest the alleged cultists and punish anyone accordingly.
On March 27, a bloody clash between suspected rival cult groups at
Seme border had resulted in the death of a 19-year-old boy, Lateef Agboola.
