sure that irrespective of any political party, who emerges as it’s flag bearer
will have Badagry at heart and also strive to move Badagry forward.
“Today our Badagry can not be as it was
yesterday because it will bring innovation to aspects we think we have to correct,
be it educational sector, health sector, infrastructure, agriculture and every
other sector that has not been properly touched.
“We can only achieve this by making sure we
put the right pen in the right holes, by engaging ourselves through having our
Permanent Voters Card (PVC), ready to go to the voting centre to vote for the
rightful candidate and making sure the person we vote has the pedigree of
moving Badagry forward if he emerges as the flag bearer irrespective of any
political party.
"Our presence here today is to discuss the
future of Badagry, not business as usual Today we are going to discuss an appeal on how Badagry will be moved from the current state and to a higher a
prosperous Badagry that is why this conference is organised by National Youth

NYCN stakeholders, supervisor for education and the youths |
Comr. David Aladeotan the NYCN coordinator,
Badagry west local government area in his speech said this is the first time several
youths a fully involve in Badagry politics, and that the voter should vote for a person
that has Badagrians at heart.
“2023 is far approaching we are all
expecting to have our representatives as fast as possible, as the popular saying
he who wants a better nation must create one and this starts from every one of us.
“That’s why we the youths of Badagry
saddled upon ourselves the responsibility to inform the general public of
Badagry, stakeholders, emerging political leaders students, voluntary youths
organisation, community youths organisations, and market women including students
our voice must be heard in the 2023 election.
“We are aware that Badagry in this era, witness
higher serious youth involvement in political participation than in the previous era,
which assured us that Badagry has great potential.
“However this aroused our urge as youth and
emerging political leaders come 2023 election we are sure that every person can
not emerge as winner as only one person will be declared as the winner.
“So as a youth body we sincerely anticipate and
plead for united Badagry agenda we envision a harmonious a Badagry development agenda
by all political aspirants in conjunction with the candidates, for us to have a
fruitful political season.
“The time we plead for all to put their interest aside and encourage Badagry development agenda in a most constructive pattern
for a greater Badagry. We plead with the youths and all political aspirations to
avoid all forms of political violence or electoral malpractice so we can have a
peaceful Badagry.” He said
Comr. Abiodun Yewenu, coordinator NYCN Badagry
Central Local Government. Said, “The seaport has taken 2,000 acres of land from us
with is what we survive on, now how do we make sure we are employable when the port
is here let us look at how we can sponsor our youths.”
Abiodun also said “The federal government
and the state government had made it clear that the project will commence very
soon we need to ask ourselves, what is our preparation towards this great
project, what is our plans to get youths involved in this facility, not as an
errand boy.
“It is our wish that we have a
representative at the federal level that can sponsor two to three hundred
Badagry youths to acquire the necessary skills needed to work in this port
community and claim the best in the field of ICT, computer engineering and
other relevant employable skill as required in the above establishment so we
ant who emerged as the winner to be able to assist our you in making them
relevant.
“He further appreciated the foremost
political leaders in Badagry for how they have been able to help youths of
Badagry to some level today and likewise the Badagry youths not,h within the
country and diaspora “this mission is for all of us,” he said.
Comr. Aladeotan responded to the question
of how the youths intend to make sure the right candidate emerges.
“As you can Agree with us that NYCN will
try as much to make sure the right candidate emerges but this is a democracy, and
it’s a mother of many children. This is part of our efforts too to speak with
the public about the election we can only talk to the public to come out and
exercise their civic right and be peaceful.
“Like now each political party has design
templates for their primaries which most of us is not part of the delegates but
the only thing we can do is to educate the public to come and vote for the
right candidates rather than fighting. We are now engaging ourselves to ensure
that we have a peaceful election in Badagry.” Comr. David said.
The Comrade added, “we need to charge
the youths, that this the time to come together to form a strong ally, setting
aside all forms of division. For the past six years, Flowiyo have been drilling crude
oil from Badagry but nothing is coming to the Badagrians, seaport is coming
they will believe they can do the same to take everything from us which is why
we need to unite.”
Comr. Abiodun in response to, how the youths
intend to be part of the coming seaport project, said the youths are actively participating in the discussions making process.
“We are working on that already making sure
we are carried along in the decision-making process, when the committee was
formed we have one of our people there Prince Felix Oke.
“We need to engage our elders and also
charge our leaders to stop selling lands in Badagry because in a short time if
the seaport comes several family houses will disappear, my best advice at this point
is to lease the land to anyone that needs it.”
Adding that “I also charge anyone that will become the House of Representatives Member to push laws that will safeguard our
lands.”
Sewede Port-Balaogun president of Badagry women
Development forum and the Supervisor for education Badagry central-local government,
speaking to the pressmen.
“We have enough programs that have been
made out for the youths already because without the youths there’s no nation we
have looked at some things to put together especial the female youths. Being a
female too, I have decided in my project to liberate the females of
Badagry local government.
“With what I see here today, I’m not that
impressed because I’m expecting to see more females here than males but we have
just a few females, the programme I intend to do is Educate a Girl Child, it’s a
project that will be very loud and it’s coming very soon so please watch out
for it.
“Already the engagement of today is already
part of the chairman’s plan which I know very well, he is already aware that we
need to be more civilized there must be more development in Badagry.
“I can bet you the chairman is of the
youths, you’ll see more engagement now than ever in Badagry. Look at
the supervisor for tourism a youth, the chief of staff, Including me. So we
have enough youth because he believes that the future of Badagry lies in the
hands of the youths and women today,” she added
Comr. Agbomenu Joseph responding to the absence
of the political aspirants at the event the president said “I think this is the
high time we the youths know that our time and efforts and voice in the
community need to go side by side because gone are those days they use the
youths as usual because most of them believe that without the youths, and with
their money they can go for whatever they want.
“As of today we the youths are making our
stand that we are very important in the community and they can not do without
us. It’s very annoying that we didn’t see them but We are still proposing the mane
summit coming up probably by August, in which we’ll try to make sure that
everyone one of them is present If truly they want Badagry to move forward,” he
said.
