The Nigeria Customs Service Seme area command had impounded not
less than 1,300 kegs of petroleum products, which was en-route to Benin
Republic.
Security forces on their routine check on Wednesday, 6 April
discovered the product filled in thousands of 30 litres kegs, which is approximately 39,000 litres
of petrol.
In a report of Naija Tourism Radio, “the aforementioned item has a Duty Paid Value
(DPV) of twelve million, five hundred and forty three thousand, nine hundred
and sixty Naira *(N12,543,960.00)* only”.
The Operatives had referred to the incident as an act of unscrupulous
and Unpatriotic elements to sabotage the efforts of the government to make this
product available to Nigerian citizens. Which has revamped the activity of the security
personnel on the border areas.
Comptroller Bello Mohammed Jibo, the Customs Area
Controller, Commanded the activity of the Nigerian Customs Service in the area and
appreciated the management for providing a conducive environment for the members
of the force to carry out their activities effectively.
The CAC had said that illegal activities on the border areas
has reduced lately because of the effectiveness and stiff monitoring of the area,
by the security operative.
