U.S. Congress members had also expressed their discontent on
the current situation of Afghanistan, promising to investigate what exactly went
wrong, this was disclosed on Tuesday 17th, by fellow Democrats of president
Joe Biden.
In a report of Reuters, Senator Bob Menendez, Democratic chairman
of the Senate Foreign Relations committee said,
“The events of recent days has been the culmination of series of mistakes
made by Republican and Democratic administrations over the past 20 years”.
“We are now witnessing the horrifying result of many years of
policy and intelligence failures”. He said.
Menendez has also said his committee would look into the policies
U.S. has made towards her relationship with Afghanistan, which will also include
those of the former president Donald Trump with the Taliban and the eventual approval
of the withdrawal by Joe Biden.
The Republican committee has said, the secretary have to testify
to the hearing, “to understand why the state department was so I’ll prepared for
the contingencies unfolding before us”. The Republicans wrote in a letter sent to
Menendez.
“Updates from the State Department have been inconsistent, lacked
important details and not been responsive to members and the American people”. The
letter said.
“I intend to work with other committee to ask tough but necessary
questions”. The Democratic Intelligence committee chairman, Senator Mark Warner
said.
Stating that he would like to know why U.S. was not well prepared
towards the collapse of Afghanistan government.
Former president Donald Trump and fellow Republicans continued
serious criticism of Biden’s policies, where the Donald Trump called his actions
“a
defeat to America ”.
A letter has also been sent to the White House, by Republicans
in the House of Representatives Armed Service Committee, stating that “The Security
and humanitarian crisis now unfolding in Afghanistan could have been avoided if
you(Joe Biden) has done any planning”.
