At
a roundtable discussion which took place in Lagos state, on 14th of
this month, the Aare Ona kakanfo of Yoruba land Aare Gani Adams expressed the
mind of the Yoruba people that they are ready for self-determination.
It
was gathered from Punch that, the discussion involves presentation of a book
titled ‘Roundtable Discussion on Economic and Restructuring in Nigeria; by the
national Pilot Book, “the Northern bloc is not ready for restructuring”. Adam
said.

In
the address of Mr. Adams he said “I supported the view that we have graduated
from restructuring to self determination but the main powerful region is not
ready. This has been the agitation of the Yoruba leaders. If this country
refuse to restructure in threethe years to come, her future is not too clear.
There are various formsschool'structuring: so the country should know the right
one to practice. If Nigeria want to restructure, we have to learn from 1960 and
1963 which allowed regional governance. During the Late Sani Abacha government
he allowed the six zones to develop at their own will. My own is self determination
you prepare for negotiation”.
The
royalties present are The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, represented by The
Alara Oodaye of Ife and Oba Segun Layade.
Oba
Layade suggest the reintroduction of history in the schools calendar, he also
stressed that most resources owned by the southerners are used for northern
development.
