More than 200 bandits have just attacked a mobile police checkpoint
in Dogon-Gawa community, Takum local government Taraba state, where one police officer
was killed.
The local government chairman Shiban Tikari, has confirmed this
incident to news agents. He said that the attack took place in the early hours of
Saturday.
He further said that the incident happened in his presence, where
over 200 bandits surrounded the police operatives.
“ There was a heavy gun duel between the police officers and
the bandits leading to the death of one officer”. He added.
Tikari also affirmed that the Tiv militias, comprising remnants
of late Gana’s boys were responsible for the series of attacks in the southern region
of Taraba state.
