At the auspicious occasion during
the cleaning and burning of refuse heaps at Badagry round about, local government premises
and other spots within Badagry Local
Government Lagos State to mark the International Global
Ethics Day which took place on 26th March, 2021.
The
Deputy Commandant of National Communities, Ethics and Values Environmental
Compliance Corps (NCEVECC) Commandant Rejoice Aboh urged Nigerians to change their perception in conducts both in public
and private dealings.
Speaking
with Badagry Parrot, Aboh
said “it is high time every Nigerian changed their perception most especially
when it relates to conducts
both in public and private dealings”.
In like manner, the Chief
Superintendent of NCEVECC, Mrs. Virtue Ndubuisi said that the Corps embarked on
massive campaigns to instil core values in the society.
However, Mrs. Ndubuisi
stressed that moral values and ethics are on the decline on daily basis most
especially among the youths, hence the need to reshape and reorientate the society.
The Public Relations Officer
of NCEVECC, Assistant Coordinator, Nelson Ameh, appealed to relevant government
agencies and well to do Nigerians to come to the aid of the Corps in reshaping the
society and instil discipline in all Nigerians. He however lamented towards
inability of the corps members in moving around to enforce and monitor those
who violate environmental laws, as mobility is very essential in carrying out
their functions.
The Corps members which
were well received by
the Executive Chairman of Badagry
Local Government, Hon. Onilude Segun ably represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Yahaya Lateef encouraged
them to keep doing their best in promoting human value in the society. Hon.
Yahaya also commended NCEVECC for focussing on a
very crucial aspect in the society that needs to be harnessed.
Yahaya,
who received the Corps members at the council chamber, reiterated commitment of
the present administration towards ensuring a cleaner environment. He noted that the council
environmental department unit has
been working tirelessly
in areas of protecting the environment and enforcing connected laws.
