Prince Samuel Mawutin Ofade (SMO), a concerned Badagry son, has issued a passionate appeal to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership at both state and federal levels, protesting against what he described as the systematic neglect and economic abandonment of the historic coastal division and an alleged plan to move the Nigerian French Language Village(NFLV).

In a press statement made available to News Peddlers on Thursday, October 15, 2026, Prince Ofade expressed deep outrage over emerging reports regarding the proposed relocation of key federal institutions from Badagry Local Government Area, warning that such moves could sever the bond between local residents and the ruling party.

Highlighting the core of his concern, Prince Ofade condemned rumours surrounding plans to move the Nigeria French Language Village (NFLV) an iconic federal inter-university centre situated in Badagry to the northern region of the country.

"What have we, the people of Badagry, done against the APC government to deserve this total neglect and abandonment?" Ofade questioned.

"The rumour making the rounds about the planned total relocation of the Nigeria French Language Village situated in Badagry Local Government, Lagos State, to the Northern part of the country is demoralising and weakening the spirit of our people in supporting this APC-led government."

Ofade underscored that Badagry, despite hosting three major international borders that contribute billions of Naira annually to the national treasury, suffers from an unacceptable deficit of federal infrastructure and institutional presence.

"The only visible Federal Government presence in Badagry today are ASCON, the French Language Village, and the Air Force Hospital, all of which are operating with sceptical and minimal activities," Ofade stated.

"If this rumour is allowed to become reality, it will be devastating. We therefore call on the Federal Government and the leadership of the APC both at the Badagry Federation and at the State level to take prompt and decisive action to stop this proposed removal."

"We are benefiting zero from the Federal Government despite having three international borders in Badagry Local Government Area that generate billions of Naira in revenue for the Federal Government. If the French Language Village is removed, what Federal presence will remain in Badagry? Especially when rumours also have it that the other two institutions are equally targeted for relocation."

Concluding his statement, Prince Ofade warned that if these proposed relocations are confirmed and allowed to proceed, the leadership and people of Badagry will not hesitate to organise a unified resistance to defend their heritage and economic interests.

"If this rumour is true, then with all the billions the Federal Government makes from our three borders, abandoning the development of Badagry Federation is an act of wickedness, neglect, and injustice," he declared.

"If such rumours turn out to be true, we will mobilise against it."
