LAGOS, NIGERIA – The race for the Alausa Government House has taken a significant turn as Dr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose (SMA) officially announced his entrance into the 2027 Lagos State governorship contest. In a major move on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, the APC chieftain confirmed he has picked up the All Progressives Congress (APC) expression of interest and nomination forms.
The declaration by Dr. Ajose, popularly known as "SMA Gold," marks a pivotal moment in the state's political calendar, signaling the beginning of high-stakes internal competition within the ruling party to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
In a public statement accompanying the move, Ajose described his candidacy as a "firm commitment to service" rather than a mere political ambition. He emphasized a vision rooted in inclusive governance and sustainable development that bridges the gap between the urban centers and the grassroots.

Ajose's entrance adds his name to a formidable list of potential APC contenders, which reportedly includes figures like Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, and Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.
