BADAGRY, Lagos – National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos State Chapter, under the leadership of Ibreahim Adigun has conferred the prestigious title of "Youth Development Ambassador" on Mrs. Funke Adepoju, the Director-General of the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON).

The recognition was formalized on Monday during a high-level courtesy visit by a delegation of the youth council to the ASCON in Topo, Badagry. The event marked a pivotal moment in fostering collaboration between the premier public service training institution and the foremost youth body in Nigeria, signaling a shared vision for the nation's future.

The honour recognizes her unwavering commitment and impactful initiatives aimed at equipping young Nigerians with in-demand digital skills. The delegation, led by David Aladeotan, NYCN Vice Chairman for Lagos West Senatorial District, was received by the ASCON Director-General to discuss potential areas of partnership focused on youth development and empowerment. It was during this meeting that the DG unveiled ambitious plans for extensive youth-oriented programs, details of which were met with great enthusiasm by the youth leaders.

Explaining the rationale behind the ambassadorial title, Aladeotan, highlighted Adepoju's exceptional leadership and demonstrable affection for the youth of Badagry. He stated that the recognition was not merely an award but a strategic move to encourage the DG to expand her efforts and create even more opportunities for young people in the region and beyond.

While receiving the delegation, Mrs. Adepoju revealed a comprehensive plan to integrate youth development into ASCON's core mandate. The blueprint is expected to focus heavily on digital skills acquisition, capacity building, and entrepreneurship training, aligning with the federal government's agenda to create a digitally fluent and economically empowered youth population. This initiative positions ASCON as a critical driver of Nigeria's digital economy.
