LAGOS, Nigeria – A devastating fire has left a mother of four, Posi Guiguiya, homeless and hospitalized with severe burns after her wooden house in the Sogunro community of Makoko, Lagos State, was engulfed in flames on the night of Saturday, November 2, 2024.
The incident has thrown the family into a dire crisis, prompting desperate appeals for public support.
According to Posi, the blaze erupted in the middle of the night while she and her children were asleep. She was awakened by the intensifying heat and smoke, realizing her home was on fire. Displaying immense courage, the mother managed to rescue all four of her sleeping children from the inferno.
However, during the frantic escape, she sustained serious burn injuries. The fire completely destroyed their home and all their belongings, leaving the family with nothing.
Currently receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital, Posi Guiguiya faces a long and painful recovery. Her immediate concern is settling her mounting medical bills, which she cannot afford.
From her hospital bed, she is now pleading with compassionate Nigerians and philanthropic organizations for financial assistance to cover her healthcare costs of about N350,000 and help her family begin the process of rebuilding their lives.
