BADAGRY, LAGOS – The dismembered body of Afesomu Amos, a commercial motorcycle rider from Vetho-Ajara, Badagry, has been discovered in a bush at Obakobe, Ado-Odo, Ogun State, bringing a tragic end to a seven-day search.
The grim discovery was made on Thursday, October 30, 2025, following a tactical investigation led by the Nigeria Police Force, confirming the family’s worst fears.
Amos, a of six father and husband, was last seen alive on Friday, October 24, 2025, when he left home for work. His wife recounted that he had informed her of a passenger pick-up from Erekiti to Ado-Odo. Their last communication was at approximately 7:30 PM, during which Amos assured her he was on his way home. By 8:00 PM, his phone was switched off, initiating a frantic search by his family when he failed to return the next day.
Amos's younger brother, Afesomu Samuel, reported him missing, in conversation with News Peddlers he said, "On that Saturday, I was informed that my brother was missing, and I went to the police station to report it," Samuel stated. Shortly after, police contacted him for the motorcycle's details.
He was later summoned to the station, where he identified his brother's motorcycle and three men who were arrested while allegedly attempting to sell it. During interrogation, the suspects claimed the motorcycle was given to them by an individual named "Banga" to sell.
The investigation intensified as the suspects were transferred from the Badagry police station to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Ikeja. In a coordinated effort, an investigation team tracked and arrested an elderly man in Ajara, Badagry, on Wednesday, recovering a phone.
The following day, Thursday, the alleged mastermind, Banga, was apprehended in the Makoko area, leading to jubilation among the family and investigators who believed the case was nearing resolution.
The fleeting hope was shattered on Friday when Samuel received the most devastating call. "I was called that the corpse of my brother had been found somewhere at Ikogale, in Ogun State," he recounted. Upon arrival, he was met with a horrific scene.
The body of Afesomu Amos had been brutally dismembered; his two arms, both eyes, and private parts had been removed and carted away.
While commending the swift action of the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the Badagry division, Samuel pleaded for support. He urged concerned residents of Badagry and beyond to help the family seek justice, ensuring his brother does not die in vain as the family has no one else to fight for them.
