LAOS, NIGERIA – Fear and tension has descended upon the Age-Mowo area of Badagry along Lagos-Badagry Expressway following shooting on Wednesday evening that left a young man dead. The incident, which occurred near MTN Bus Stop, has sparked panic among residents and commuters, with unconfirmed reports pointing to a violent cult clash as the possible motive.
According to eyewitness accounts gathered at the scene, the victim, identified only as a local shawarma seller, was fatally shot in front of his own shop by unidentified assailants. The attackers, whose number remains unknown, reportedly executed the act and fled the scene, leaving behind a community in shock.
"It was sudden and terrifying," shared one anonymous witness. "We heard the gunshots and everyone started running for cover. By the time we looked, the young man was on the ground." The swift and targeted nature of the attack has fueled speculation about it being a premeditated assassination.
While the Lagos State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement, preliminary and unconfirmed reports from local sources suggest the killing may be linked to an ongoing rivalry between suspected cult groups operating in the Age-Mowo and Badagry axis. The identity of the victim remains unknown, and authorities are working to notify next of kin.
