BADAGRY, LAGOS – The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted a massive consignment of Crystal Methamphetamine valued at over Five Hundred and Sixty-Two Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N562,500,000). The illicit substance was seized during a meticulously planned stop-and-search operation along the Gbaji access road to the Seme border, Badagry, a known hotspot for cross-border criminal activity.

The operation, executed by the Customs Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone A, Ikeja, was launched on the evening of Friday, October 17, 2025.

Acting on credible intelligence, a dedicated patrol team intercepted one Uduak Monday, who was found in possession of a suspicious nylon bag meticulously sealed with sellotape.

Comptroller Mohammed Shuaibu, who revealed details of the interception, confirmed that a subsequent examination of the bag uncovered 25 kilograms of high-grade Ice Crystal Methamphetamine, a dangerous and highly addictive stimulant.

Following the seizure, the suspect, Uduak Monday, and the intercepted narcotics have been formally handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and diligent prosecution.

This successful interception at the Badagry checkpoint underscores the Nigeria Customs Service's unwavering commitment to combating the scourge of illicit drug trafficking and protecting the nation's borders, complementing their primary role of revenue collection.

The handover to the NDLEA signals the next phase in the legal process to dismantle the network behind this multi-million naira drug haul.
