BADAGRY, Lagos – A 28-year-old woman, Chidinma Simeon, has been arrested and charged after allegedly biting off a portion of her neighbour's lip during a violent altercation, an act the prosecution claims has left the victim permanently disfigured.
The incident, occurred at Tozunkanmeh community of Ajara Aganmathen Badagry, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. According to the prosecution, represented by ASP Edet Ekpo, the conflict between Simeon and her neighbour, Anuoluwapo Sule, escalated dramatically around 7:30 p.m.
In the heat of the physical clash, Simeon is accused of launching a brutal attack, sinking her teeth into Sule's face and severing part of her lip. The victim was reportedly rushed for medical attention for what authorities are calling a life-altering injury.
Following her arrest, Chidinma Simeon was arraigned on Friday, September 12, 2025, before the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court. She faced a single charge of assault, to which she entered a plea of not guilty. ASP Ekpo informed the court that the alleged actions of the defendant contravened Section 245 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015, which deals with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm or disfigurement.
Presiding Chief Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted the defendant bail under strict conditions. Simeon was released on bail set at one million naira (N1,000,000) and required to provide two sureties for the same amount. In a move emphasizing community involvement, Magistrate Layeni mandated that one of the sureties must be a recognized leader within their community, ensuring a layer of accountability for the defendant's return to court.
The case has been adjourned until October 10, 2025, for mention, allowing for further police investigation and preparation. This shocking event serves as a grim reminder of how quickly personal conflicts can spiral into life-changing violence. Residents of the Tozunkanmeh community await the next hearing as the pursuit of justice for Anuoluwapo Sule continues.
