BADAGRY, Lagos – Lagos State University School of Basic and Advanced Studies (LASUSBAS) successfully conducted its highly competitive entrance examinations for the 2025/2026 academic session on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

The examination, held at the school’s campus in Badagry, witnessed a significant influx of prospective students aiming to secure a spot in the prestigious one-year JUPEB programme, a direct pathway to university admission.

The atmosphere on campus was a blend of anticipation and determination as hundreds of students vied for admission. The school's management ensured a seamless and well-organised process, underscoring the institution's commitment to excellence from the very first point of contact. This annual event marks a critical first step for students embarking on an intensive academic journey designed to prepare them for tertiary education.

In a post-examination address, the Director of LASUSBAS, Professor Adeleke Dauda, held a crucial interactive session with parents. He explicitly outlined the shared responsibility in nurturing successful students. “We informed them of their responsibilities both to the students and to the university,” Prof. Dauda stated.

“We intimated them that they should not leave the upbringing of the students to us alone; they should closely monitor their children very well so that they can be successful.” He stressed that the programme focuses on holistic development, adding, “We train them in learning and character, and that will enable them to enjoy whatever they’ve learnt.”

Professor Dauda did not mince words about the academic demands of the JUPEB programme, warning students that it is "not a tea party." He emphasized the need for unwavering seriousness and disclosed a consistent annual increase in enrolment, which he attributes to the quality of teaching and the reputation of Lagos State University. “We assure them that we won’t disappoint them,” he said, while also issuing a stern warning against misconduct, making it clear that the institution maintains a zero-tolerance policy for indiscipline.

Mr. Funsho Osho, a parent of one of the candidates, expressed his pleasant surprise at the state of the facilities. “I thought it was just going to be a funny arrangement, but from what I have seen in terms of infrastructure, it's very much commendable,” he remarked.

Mr. Osho’s approval extended beyond the physical structures to the core values of the school, noting the ethical supervision and well-structured academic plan as key selling points.

Mr. Osho further elaborated that the programme is “definitely going to add value to the lives of the kids,” providing them with a solid foundation to excel. He acknowledged the institution’s emphasis on the intensive nature of the course, affirming that it necessitates focus and dedication from the students to achieve success. This parent's perspective highlights the confidence that families place in LASUSBAS to mould responsible and academically sound individuals.
