BADAGRY, LAGOS – The Badagry West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) is enveloped in grief following the sudden and tragic demise of its Vice Chairman, Princess Oluremi (Remilekun) Ajose Nutayi. The top-ranking official passed away barely two months after taking her oath of office, sending shockwaves through the local government and the broader Badagry community.

In an official statement released by the council, the Chairman, Hon. Rauf Ibrahim Kayode Yemaje (popularly known as RIKAY), expressed profound sorrow on behalf of the entire LCDA. The statement, co-signed by the Executive, Legislative arm, and management, described Princess Nutayi's death as a "monumental tragedy." It highlighted the immense and painful vacuum her passing has created within the fabric of the area's governance and leadership, noting her promising start was abruptly cut short.

Princess Nutayi was celebrated as a dedicated grassroots politician and a fiercely loyal party member whose qualities distinguished her in public service. Appointed less than two months ago, she had previously served the council with distinction as the Supervisor for Education.

In that role, she was widely credited with demonstrating uncommon diligence, unwavering commitment, and a passion for development that endeared her to colleagues and constituents alike. Her rapid ascent to the Vice Chairman position was a testament to her hard work and selfless dedication.

Beyond her political life, the late Vice Chairman was also a respected figure of royal heritage. She was the daughter of His Royal Majesty, Oba Oyekan Adekanmi Ilufemiloye of Possi III, the Alapa of the Apa Egun Awori Kingdom. This background informed her deep respect for culture and tradition, and she was widely remembered as a figure of great discipline and humility who seamlessly bridged the gap between modern governance and traditional values.

The Badagry West LCDA has extended its deepest condolences to the immediate family of Princess Nutayi, the Apa Egun Awori Kingdom, and the entire Badagry community. The council has requested prayers for the repose of her soul and for divine comfort for all those grieving her immense loss. The circumstances surrounding her death have not been publicly disclosed at this time.
