Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will today commission critical road networks in Badagry, marking another milestone in the state’s infrastructure expansion. The newly completed roads—Aradagun–Mosafejo–Ilado–Imeke Road, Samuel Ekundayo Road, and Hospital Road—are set to enhance mobility and economic activity in the region.
Spanning Badagry Local Government and Olorunda LCDA, these projects will improve access to the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, reducing travel time for residents and businesses. The initiative aligns with the state’s THEMES+ agenda, reinforcing the government’s commitment to sustainable urban development and improved transportation networks.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, highlighted that the Badagry road projects complement recent infrastructure upgrades, including 39 roads and five bridges delivered in the area. These developments are expected to stimulate commerce, tourism, and ease traffic congestion in one of Lagos’s fastest-growing corridors.
The newly commissioned roads will provide smoother access to key attractions like the Badagry Heritage Museum and Slave Port, boosting tourism potential. Additionally, improved connectivity is anticipated to attract investments, creating job opportunities for locals and supporting the state’s economic diversification efforts.
With today’s commissioning, the Sanwo-Olu administration reaffirms its focus on inclusive growth and infrastructure development. Residents and stakeholders eagerly await the long-term benefits of these projects, which promise to transform Badagry into a major economic and tourism hub in Lagos State.
