The Imo State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old pastor, Ikenna Emmanuel, and his alleged accomplice, Franklin Chizoba, for reportedly raping a 20-year-old woman under the guise of conducting a spiritual prayer session.
According to DSP Henry Okoye, the police spokesperson, the suspects lured the young woman to the pastor’s residence in Ideato-South LGA, where she was allegedly given a drugged drink. The victim reportedly lost consciousness before being sexually assaulted by both men.
During interrogation, the suspects not only confessed to the rape but also admitted to engaging in homosexual activities. The case was swiftly charged to court on August 12, with both men remanded at the Owerri Correctional Facility pending trial.
In a separate incident, police arrested 39-year-old Ifeanyi Odinka for allegedly stabbing his 75-year-old father to death following a violent argument over proceeds from a land sale. The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further prosecution.
DSP Okoye reassured residents of Imo State of the police command’s dedication to maintaining security. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement immediately.
