The sudden and tragic death of a young man, Aggrey Victor, has sent shockwaves through the Badagry community, in Lagos State, with residents and social media users demanding a thorough investigation into the mysterious circumstances surrounding his demise.
Unverified reports circulating online present conflicting accounts of Victor’s death. One version claims he was involved in a violent domestic dispute with his wife, stabbed her, and then ingested Sniper insecticide after believing she had died. Another account alleges that after the altercation, his wife sought medical treatment, only to return and find Victor’s lifeless body on the road near their home, with an empty *Sniper* bottle beside him.
However, many are questioning these narratives, pointing to visible injuries on Victor’s body that suggest foul play.
In a report by CityMood, Nimi Fubara raised concerns, stating: “Looks. Like. He was strangled and his face was smashed with an object.”
Other commentators echoed similar doubts, Ajose Semawon questioned: “This face looks bashed, and when did he die that rigor mortis has quickly set in?”
Anthony Teddy Avoseh observed, “What happened to that face? This looks like a panel beater or painter’s workshop. How did he get there without complete top wear?”
Prominent voices are calling for an official probe, dismissing the suicide claims as suspicious. Babajide Akran described the circulating stories as “riddled with holes” and “reeking of a cover-up.” He added “This doesn’t look like suicide it screams murder. The truth must come out, and the Aggrey family deserves answers.”
Similarly, Stephen Mesewaku warned, “When I heard the story behind this horrific death, I realized there are many unanswered questions. The law must take its course, or we’ll have another Mohbad case on our hands.”
As of now, the police have not released an official statement regarding Victor’s death, and none of the online claims have been independently verified. The growing outcry highlights the urgent need for a transparent investigation to uncover the truth and deliver justice for Victor’s grieving family.
