In a scandal that has rocked Nigeria’s academic community, Dr. Olabode Abimbola Ibikunle, a senior lecturer at Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, was found dead in a hotel room after an alleged intimate encounter with a 200-level female student.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, has triggered widespread reactions, with many questioning the circumstances surrounding his sudden demise .
According to multiple reports, Dr. Ibikunle a married man and lecturer in the Faculty of Education checked into an undisclosed hotel in Anyigba with a female student from the Department of Social Studies Education, believed to be of Ebira descent.
Witnesses claim that after consuming multiple energy drinks, the lecturer engaged in an intimate session with the student. While the first encounter reportedly went smoothly, he collapsed and died while preparing for a second round .
The student, whose identity remains undisclosed, raised the alarm, prompting hotel staff to alert the police. She was subsequently arrested and is currently in custody as authorities investigate possible foul play, including poisoning or substance use.
