Badagry Chairman Onilude Commissions Staff Quarters, Shopping Arcade, Cinema/Dansu Road

The Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Segun Onilude, has kicked off his valedictory programme in grand style, commissioning multiple landmark projects, including staff quarters, roads, a shopping arcade, and a massive empowerment scheme for residents. The event, held amidst fanfare, showcased the administration’s commitment to legacy projects and community development.  


Among the newly commissioned projects are the Sunny Ajose Staff Quartersa 20-room self-contained apartment block for civil servants the Cinema/Dansu Road, and the Moses Owolabani Shopping Arcade. Additionally, the chairman renamed the former Inspectorate Road after Chief J.J. Gbededo, the first council chairman, in recognition of his pivotal role in securing the council’s land.  


Speaking at the ceremony, Onilude reflected on his administration’s achievements since 2017, emphasizing a focus on functional and enduring projects that have transformed governance and improved residents' welfare.  


“Since 2017, we have done our best building roads, constructing landmark buildings, and enhancing community welfare. The most important thing is not just to start well but to end well, and today, we stand proud of our accomplishments,” he declared.  


Unlike leaders who retreat as their tenure ends, Onilude remained visible and engaged, interacting freely with residents a testament to his confidence in his administration’s performance.  


The Sunny Ajose Staff Quarters was specifically designed to address accommodation challenges for civil servants posted from distant locations. Onilude urged staff to maintain the facility and proposed regular sanitation exercises to ensure cleanliness.  


In a heartwarming gesture, the chairman also empowered 250 residents with ₦50,000 each to support their businesses and livelihoods. “This is our token of appreciation to the community that stood by us,” he stated.


Mrs. M.A. Olusanya, the Council Manager, described Onilude as a compassionate and empathetic leader, while Comrade Gbenga Hunponu, the Council Treasurer, praised his visionary leadership and humility, stating that he deserves higher political responsibilities.  


Miss Dike Charity, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, also expressed gratitude for the chairman’s support, including the construction of a corps lodge and assistance during community projects.
