Hon. Abayomi Noah Medemaku, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship candidate for the upcoming Badagry Local Government elections, has strongly dismissed claims by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that he has been disqualified from the race.
In a press release issued to journalists on Thursday, Medemaku described the APC’s allegations as false propaganda, insisting that he remains fully eligible and committed to the electoral contest.
The PDP candidate expressed surprise at the disqualification rumor, stating, “We have been inundated with calls from our loyalists who heard from APC propagandists that I have been disqualified.
I wish to state categorically that we are fully and 100% in the race both physically and otherwise.” He challenged the APC to provide evidence of his alleged disqualification, emphasizing that only a court of law holds such authority.
Medemaku further clarified that the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) lacks the power to disqualify him, questioning the source of the APC’s claims. “LASIEC cannot disqualify me, so who else does? The APC is a party built on deception, and this is another attempt to mislead the public,” he declared.
His statement comes amid rising political tensions ahead of the July 12, 2025, local government elections in Badagry.
The PDP stalwart urged his supporters to remain calm and focused, assuring them of his unwavering participation in the polls.
“I have not been disqualified, and I call on our people to come out en masse to vote. The mandate is ours, and we will prove it on election day,” he affirmed. His message was aimed at dispelling fears among PDP loyalists and reinforcing confidence in his candidacy.
Medemaku interpreted the APC’s alleged smear campaign as a sign of panic, stating, “This shows the opposition camp is jittery of our popularity. They know the people of Badagry are with us, and we will demonstrate that overwhelming support on July 12.” He vowed to run an issue-based campaign, focusing on grassroots development and good governance.
Political analysts suggest that the APC’s rumored disqualification tactic may backfire, as Medemaku’s strong rebuttal has galvanized his support base. With the election just days away, the PDP candidate remains a formidable contender, promising to deliver a resounding victory for his party.
