The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Anambra State has officially inaugurated a 23-member campaign council ahead of the November 18 governorship election. The council, comprising 19 men and four women from coalition parties, was unveiled at the party’s secretariat in Awka on Friday, signalling the ADC’s readiness for a competitive race.

ADC’s governorship candidate, John Nwosu, a technology expert, announced that the party will commence its grassroots campaign on August 9, urging the council to focus on teamwork and discipline. The campaign will be led by Ike Iwenofu, a seasoned political strategist, who pledged loyalty and commitment to the party’s vision.

Nwosu emphasised ADC’s 7-pillar manifesto, which includes security, health, education, economy, environment, market reforms, and social welfare. He revealed that findings from his recent local government tour highlighted rising housing costs, insecurity, and multiple taxation as major concerns for Anambra residents.

“We must avoid distractions, embrace unity, and take our message directly to the people,” Nwosu stated. “Our strength lies in grassroots mobilisation and issue-based campaigns.”

Iwenofu, the campaign council chairman, assured that the ADC would deploy technology-driven strategies for effective voter engagement. He called on members to avoid divisive politics and focus on solutions to Anambra’s challenges.

With the Anambra governorship election heating up, ADC’s early mobilisation and structured campaign approach position it as a strong contender against major parties. If Nwosu’s promises on security, tax reforms, and economic revival resonate with voters, the party could spring a surprise in November.
