Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Interior in statement has declared Thursday, June 12, 2025, a public holiday to commemorate Democracy Day.
Interior Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, speaking on behalf of the government, congratulated Nigerians on 26 years of uninterrupted democracy, highlighting the nation’s resilience and progress.
“June 12 symbolizes our historic journey toward a nation built on truth, justice, and lasting peace,” Tunji-Ojo stated. “The past 26 years reflect our strength, unity, and unwavering hope for a brighter future under the Renewed Hope agenda.”
The minister reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s dedication to upholding democratic principles, ensuring the people’s voice shapes Nigeria’s political, economic, and social development.
