The Federal Government has officially declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays in observance of Eid-el-Kabir, allowing Muslims across Nigeria to celebrate the festival.

The announcement was made by Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, in a statement released on Monday in Abuja. The declaration was issued on behalf of the federal government by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Tunji-Ojo urged Muslim faithful to embrace the values of sacrifice, faith, and unity exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham). He also encouraged prayers for peace, prosperity, and national stability during the festive period.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to progress, the minister highlighted the people-centered reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s "Renewed Hope Agenda", aimed at revitalizing Nigeria’s growth. He called on all citizens to support the administration’s efforts in rebuilding the nation’s future.

This extended holiday provides an opportunity for Nigerians to celebrate with family while reflecting on national unity and development.
