In a major move to strengthen the judicial process, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Friday commissioned the newly constructed Deputy Sheriff Warehouse in Ikorodu, a state-of-the-art facility designed to securely store properties tied to ongoing court cases.
The warehouse, a first-of-its-kind initiative, addresses long-standing challenges in evidence and property management within the legal system. Previously, exhibits under litigation especially those awaiting appeal or final judgments were often poorly documented, misplaced, or mishandled, leading to delays and disputes.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the facility is equipped with advanced security systems, digital documentation, and restricted access to ensure all stored items remain intact and traceable until court cases are fully resolved.
"This warehouse is a game-changer for Lagos," the Governor stated. "We’re eliminating bottlenecks, preventing confusion, and upholding justice by ensuring that exhibits are professionally managed. No more missing files or disputed properties—just accountability and efficiency."
The project aligns with the state’s broader commitment to transparency, rule of law, and judicial efficiency. By reducing administrative delays, the government aims to speed up court proceedings and reinforce public trust in the legal system.
Sanwo-Olu added, "Lagos leads by example. We’re building systems that reflect our values—fairness, innovation, and respect for due process. This warehouse is another milestone in our journey toward a world-class justice system."
Authorities confirm that the facility will be strictly managed by authorized personnel, with real-time tracking for all stored items. Legal experts have praised the initiative, calling it a critical step in reducing case backlogs and safeguarding assets in dispute.
