The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) resit for candidates affected by earlier disruptions.

However, the announcement came with shocking revelations of rampant malpractice, including AI-assisted impersonation, cyberattacks on CBT centres, and organised cheating syndicates.

Key Decisions from JAMB’s Review Meeting are Results Released with Conditions – Under-aged candidates who scored below admission standards had their results released but remain ineligible for admission.   "WhatsApp Runs" Cheaters Granted One-Time Waiver – Candidates caught soliciting answers via WhatsApp had their results released with a stern warning.  Absentees Get Second Chance – Over 93% attendance was recorded, but absent candidates can retake the exam during the annual mop-up UTME. Blacklisted CBT Centres – Proprietors involved in registration fraud will face prosecution, while affected centres lose accreditation.  Tutorial Centres Under Scrutiny – JAMB urged stricter regulation of tutorial centres linked to exam

JAMB uncovered alarming new cheating tactics, including: CBT Centre Hacking – Some centres manipulated local servers to alter candidate answers. AI-Generated Impersonation, –

Candidates used blended photos to bypass biometric verification.

"Combined Fingerprint" Scam – Multiple fingerprints were merged to fake registration.

Undergraduate Mercenaries – University students were paid to write exams for candidates.

Over 3,000 candidates nationwide have been implicated, with many results already withdrawn.

A viral claim by Mr. Olisa Gabriel Chukwuemeka, a student at Adekunle Ajasin University, falsely boasting a 326 UTME score, was debunked. Investigations revealed he altered his 2024 result (203) to mislead the public. His actual 2025 score was 180.

Released results can be checked via JAMB’s official channels.  Withdrawn results will be communicated via SMS and email. Mop-up UTME will accommodate absentees.

JAMB commended security agencies for their role in uncovering fraud and urged stakeholders to support a malpractice-free exam system.
