Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has fulfilled a major promise to civil servants by settling ₦4.5 billion in outstanding gratuities and entitlements.

The governor’s spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, announced this milestone in Maiduguri, detailing Zulum’s key achievements since 2024.

The state government has cleared all pending gratuities for retired permanent secretaries up to December 2024, totaling ₦1.49 billion. Additionally, ₦200 million is disbursed monthly to retirees, ensuring consistent support.

"We are committed to wiping out all pension and gratuity backlogs before the end of this administration," Iliya affirmed, reinforcing Gov. Zulum’s dedication to workers' welfare.

Beyond workers' welfare, Zulum’s administration, in collaboration with the federal government and international partners, has successfully repatriated 7,790 refugees from Chad’s Baga Sola to Kukawa LGA. Similar efforts brought back displaced citizens from Niger Republic’s Diffa and Bosso to Abadam LGA. Each returnee received food and essential supplies to aid resettlement.

Financial Relief: Thousands of retirees and civil servants now receive long-overdue payments. Refugee Resettlement: Over 7,700 displaced persons safely returned with support. Transparency & Commitment: Monthly ₦200M payouts demonstrate sustained effort.

Gov. Zulum’s administration continues to prioritize workers' welfare and post-insurgency recovery, setting a benchmark for governance in Nigeria’s Northeast.
