Badagry, Lagos State – Chaos erupted today during the All Progressives Congress (APC) councillorship primary election in Ward G, Ajido, Badagry, as Padonu Sanusi, a party stalwart, allegedly made a violent attempt on the life of the APC Vice Chairman, Williams Jesuyon Timothy.
Eyewitnesses report that the attack stemmed from Timothy’s open support for -councillorship aspirant Hon. Padonu John Hedewhe, a move that angered Sanusi and his faction.
The situation escalated into a physical assault, with Sanusi allegedly brandishing a weapon before being restrained by party members and security personnel.
APC officials have condemned the violence, calling for an immediate investigation.
Supporters of Hon. Hedewhe accuse Sanusi of intimidation tactics to suppress opposition. Local authorities are yet to release an official statement, but tensions remain high in Ajido.
This incident highlights rising political tensions in Badagry ahead of local elections, raising concerns over party unity and security during primaries.
