The Niger State House of Assembly has greenlit a N151.7 billion budget for its 25 local government areas in the 2025 fiscal year.
The approval came after lawmakers adopted the report presented by Bello Bako, Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, during Thursday’s plenary session.
The budget breakdown reveals N96.3 billion allocated for recurrent expenditure and N55.4 billion earmarked for capital projects. Bako emphasized the need for local councils to boost revenue generation, eliminate financial leakages, and prioritize developmental spending.
Speaker Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji praised the committee for its thorough review and assured that the Assembly would intensify oversight to ensure effective budget implementation.
