The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has donated 10,000 bags (25kg each) of rice to religious leaders and Muslim groups in Abuja as part of this year’s Ramadan welfare initiative.

The distribution took place on Monday in Gwagwalada, with Wike’s Chief of Staff, Chidi Amadi, representing him. The gesture aligns with the FCT Administration’s annual tradition of assisting Muslim communities during the holy month.

Amadi emphasized that the donation was aimed at aiding vulnerable groups and fostering solidarity with Muslim residents.

"The distribution of the 10,000 bags of rice is part of our efforts to stand with our Muslim brothers, especially the needy and less privileged who require such support," he said.

"The minister, in his own way, seeks to strengthen ties with the religious community in the FCT."

Earlier, Sani Daura, the FCTA Director of Protocol, noted that the Ramadan package would also reach FCT-graded chiefs, religious leaders, and the FCT Welfare Association.

He explained that Wike approved the procurement and distribution in line with the administration’s commitment to residents’ welfare, particularly during festive seasons.

Recipients praised the minister’s thoughtful intervention, saying it would alleviate food challenges for struggling families.

One of them, Lawal Mustapha, Chief Imam of the FCT Minister’s residence mosque in Life Camp, Abuja, expressed appreciation, stating that the support would significantly ease hardships for vulnerable households.
