NYCN Badagry West Gender Directorate Unveils Logo to Mark International Women’s Day

The Directorate of Gender and Girl Child Empowerment under the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Badagry West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has unveiled its official logo and letterhead in commemoration of International Women’s Day. 


The historic event took place on March 20, 2025, at Suntan Beach Hall, Badagry West, Lagos State.  


Comrade Fatimah Abass, Director of the Directorate of Gender and Girl Child Empowerment, described the unveiling as a groundbreaking milestone for the NYCN.  


“This is the first of its kind in the history of the NYCN, and such a remarkable feat has not been achieved in any part of the nation before now,” she said.  


The event celebrated the social, political, and cultural impact of women worldwide, aligning with the global observance of International Women’s Day. 


Comrade Abass emphasized the importance of empowering women and girls, stating that confidence is key to their growth and success.  


“Females are the most beautiful and gorgeous creatures on the face of the earth. Empowerment builds confidence, and the question isn’t who is going to let me, but who is going to stop me,” she declared.  


Her remarks highlighted the directorate’s commitment to fostering gender equality and creating opportunities for women and girls to thrive.  


Comrade Abass expressed her appreciation to key stakeholders who supported the initiative, including: Hon. Gbenu Joseph Henugbe: Chairman of Badagry West LCDA, Hon. Chief Mrs. Gbenu Esther, Chairperson of Badagry West LCDA, Hon. Princess Damilola Sonayon James: Supervisor for Social Services and Agriculture, Badagry West LCDA, Hon. Sesi Ogungbe: Supervisor for Women Affairs & Poverty Alleviation, Badagry West LCDA, Comrade Aladeotan David Sunday: Vice Chairman, NYCN Lagos West Senatorial District, Comrade Agbomenu Sejiro Joseph: Coordinator, NYCN Badagry West LCDA and The entire executives and heads of directorates of NYCN Badagry West LCDA.


She acknowledged their contributions to making the event a success and emphasized that the initiative marked a historic first in the annals of the NYCN.  


The unveiling of the logo and letterhead symbolized the directorate’s dedication to promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls in Badagry West and beyond. The event also served as a platform to celebrate the achievements of women in various fields and to inspire future generations to break barriers and achieve their full potential.
