The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has intercepted a massive haul of stolen crude oil, confiscating a truck loaded with 70,000 litres of illegally siphoned crude in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The operation, carried out by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CGS SIS), followed an intelligence tip-off on illegal oil activities in the Niger Delta.

Acting swiftly, the squad tracked and impounded a long caravan truck (Reg. No. AGL574XY) near the Eleme flyover in Elelewo, where suspects abandoned the vehicle upon sighting security operatives.

Key Details of the Operation: 70,000 litres of stolen crude oil seized, Truck with in-built storage tank recovered, Syndicate members fled, investigation ongoing, Crude sourced from vandalized wellheads & pipeline, Forfeiture & prosecution underway.

NSCDC spokesperson Afolabi Babawale confirmed the arrest, stating that the exhibits—including the truck and crude—would be presented for court-ordered forfeiture, with proceeds going into the Proceeds of Crime Account (POCA).

CGS SIS Commander AS Dandaura reaffirmed the squad’s zero-tolerance stance against oil theft, vowing to dismantle criminal networks behind economic sabotage.

This latest bust underscores NSCDC’s intensified crackdown on illegal oil activities in the Niger Delta.
