Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, announced plans to introduce additional vocational training programs aimed at boosting digital literacy across the state. The initiative ensures that all schools will have access to cutting-edge technology and learning resources.
The governor made this commitment during the inauguration of newly constructed classroom blocks at Ipara Junior College, Majiyagbe; State Junior High School Ibereko, Badagry; Awori Junior College, Ojo; and Thogli Community Grammar School, Badagry. These projects were executed by the Committee on Rehabilitation of Public Schools.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of a solid educational foundation for children, stating that it is crucial for societal growth and future development. He highlighted that the initiative will not only enhance students' learning experiences but also equip communities with essential skills for a fast-evolving digital world.
Bridging the Education Gap with Modern Infrastructure
The governor, represented by his Special Adviser on Agriculture, Dr. Oluwarotimi Fashola, at Thogli Community Grammar School, Badagry, reiterated his administration’s commitment to equitable education. He revealed that the state is nearing completion of the ultra-modern Tolu School Complex in Ajegunle, Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA. The facility will include 36 schools, a health center, a fire station, an ICT hub, an inclusive school, and a multi-purpose sports complex.
Sanwo-Olu stressed that education must be inclusive, ensuring every child, regardless of background, has the resources needed to succeed. “This project reflects our administration’s determination to bridge the gap between urban and rural schools, ensuring no child is left behind in our pursuit of educational excellence,” he stated.
At Ipara Junior College, Majiyagbe, the governor noted that the newly commissioned facilities align with the state’s vision of fostering an inclusive and modern educational system. These efforts are designed to support student development and drive community progress.
This expansion underscores Lagos State’s dedication to providing quality education and digital empowerment for all.
