Prof. Falode said the students have gotten rare privileges as the centre remains the only multidisciplinary centre in the university that the students are not restricted to a particular department.

"This is going to equip you to face the dynamics of the world. We are giving you the main thing presently, which is security and peace. Your facilitators are only dealing with the theoretical aspects while you are the practitioners.

"In five years time you will be out there telling the world about peace. Our discipline is so practical that you would just have to practice what we teach you," he added.

Prof. Oseni Afisi, the Deputy Vice Chancellor who represented Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni the vice chancellor of the university, said, "You have become part of those who would be policymakers and stakeholders that would find ways to address issues in our society, the problem of terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping.

This is not only a study centre but also a centre for innovation and collaboration. A hub of multidisciplinary research where cutting-edge research will be taking place," he said.

The centre has admitted both Doctorate and PhD students, the Doctorate would last for three sessions while the PhD would last for five sessions. It also admitted Masters students for Master of Art in peace and Master in Peace and Security. Also, a post-graduate Diploma in peace and security lasting for 18 months.

Prof. Olateju Ibrahim, the Dean Postgraduate School, said, The Senate of the university has approved virtual lectures and examinations for postgraduate students anywhere in the world. "The postgraduate school now has a virtual room to connect, which can connect students anywhere in the world, with that, you can graduate in time."
