Mr. Segun Onilude, the Badagry Local Government chairman, had assured that the coming local government elections in Lagos State would be free and fair, as he promised to provide all necessary support for the success of the 2025 chairmanship election.
The chairman disclosed this on Wednesday to the representatives of Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), led by its Chairman, Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile, at the council secretariat, Badagry, Lagos State.
Onilude reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to supporting the electoral commission in conducting a smooth and transparent election. He assured that his administration would provide the necessary logistical and security support, along with other essential resources required by the commission to facilitate a free, fair, and transparent electoral process.
In response, Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile expressed gratitude for the warm reception and recalled fond memories of her time as the head of the court in Badagry. She reassured the council boss that LASIEC remains committed to conducting credible elections that reflect the true will of the people.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of stakeholder engagement, with both officials agreeing on the need for continuous dialogue with political parties, security agencies, civil society organizations, and the electorate. They noted that such collaboration would foster public trust in the electoral process and encourage peaceful participation.
