Three people have been arrested by the Zone 16 Police Command for allegedly dealing illegal drugs and engaging in fraudulent activity.

SP Gunn Emonena, the zone spokesman in Yenagoa, said in a statement on Saturday that the zonal financial and cybercrime unit stormed the Rumukparali community in the Obio/Akpo Local Government of Rivers to arrest the suspects based on reliable intelligence.

The three suspects, Billion Ndubuisi, Charles Amachree, and Martins Chinemike, he said, admitted to defrauding one St. Andrea and Charlen Zielinsky out of $71,500 by posing as Ryam Bill, a well-known figure in the United States.

According to Mr. Emonena, after a search was conducted on their property, ten phones, two cars, two laptops, and wraps of illegal hard drugs that were thought to be hemp were found.

“The suspects, through their agent, offered the sum of 17,000 US Dollars bribe, which was rejected by our well-trained reformed officers.

“The money is registered and will be tendered as exhibits in court,” Mr Emonena said.

He claims that Adebola Hamzat, the zone's AIG, has reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of people under his jurisdiction as well as those of the entire nation.

The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to guaranteeing the safety and security of all citizens, he said, under the wise direction of Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.
