The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) has organized sensitisation and Legal Aid clinic to commemorate 16 days of human rights activism in Nigeria, and the people should avoid all forms of violence.

This event was held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the Badagry Local Government Secretariat, Badagry, Lagos State.

The program is titled: Stop Violence, Respect Human Rights. it is a campaign against all forms of violence.

Mrs. Grace Edigbue, the publicity Secretary NBA Badagry Branch and the secretary on human rights committee in Badagry, said, "It is for every man in Badagry and its environment to know it is not lawful for them to be violent to one another."

L.A. Rashidi, the chairman Nigeria Bar Association Badagry Branch, said, "This is a very solid pregame. We have educated people on their rights and wrongs, and I want to tell you guys sincerely that Badagry is moving. This is important to everybody; human rights are a solid thing that is born out of love.

"If you don't love your neighbours, you can't respect their rights. We should show love to each other whenever there is love; every other good thing will fall in."

Arigbabuwo K, Lateef, a lawyer, said, "Badagry can be called a city yet can still be categorised among the rural areas within Lagos State where people do not know the extent of their rights and how they enforce such rights. This gives the participants the opportunity to know the extent of their rights.

"We are lawyers, and it is not part of our obligation to be going here and there to know the people's challenges. It is expected that anyone who has challenges should approach the lawyer."

Babatunde Adigun, a participant, said, "I learnt a lot here today, the need to know my rights, to caution against any forms of violence in our environment, and to know the rights of others.

Mrs. Hosu Maria, a participant, said, "The program they are doing today is educating and inspiring. It is a program that should continue even if possible quarterly. There are many problems people are facing, but they don't know how to table it.

"I'm really satisfied with the way they answered my question here today, because I don't have the intention of taking the matter up, but now I think I got the right advice.
