Jam'Iyat An-Najat, Society of Nigeria Povita Branch, Under the leadership of Mkd Taofik Yusuf Grand Chief Imam Povita Land, celebrates Maolud Nabiyy, the birth of the holy prophet Muhammad, and calls for love and unity.
The event was held on Sunday at Povita Community Hall, Badagry, Lagos State.
Mkd Taofik Yusuf, the grand chief imam of Povita Land, said, The celebration is to appreciate God through the prophet, "as he was the one sent to us to show the way of the way of Islam."
"Everyone that claims to be a follower of the prophet, we must follow his footsteps from the good works and love for one another; Islam is all about love, which will bring peace to the world.
Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, the former House of Representatives member representing Badagry Federal Constituency, said, Badagry in particular, Christians and Muslims are interwoven, so we do things together, which is why I'm here to show the love.
The former lawmaker urged Badagry residents to be patient, and he is convinced that the president will fulfil the promise of renewed hope he made to the people.
Alige Abdelharim, the chief imam of Dale Whedako Kingdom, said, "This gathering is very important in Islam; the birth of prophet Muhammad is part of the event we use to remember the good works of the prophet on the part of Islam.
"As a verse said in the Kuran, we should gather and unite; we all should unite in one accord, as it's part of what we are instructed to do in remembrance of the birth of prophet Muhammad.
"The country is the way it is because there's no unity among the people, as various separatist movements show how divided we are. Together we stand; divided we fall," he added.
