As Chief Sunday Kufisile and Prince Fagbamila Adewale lay claim to the position of chairman of council mandate movement, chaos and power struggle to dominate the leadership of the Mandate Movement in the Olorunda Local Council Development Area.

Sunday Kufisile stated that in February 2024, he was appointed and sworn in as Chairman of the Mandate Movement, Olorunda LCDA, at the movement's Secretariat in Ikeja.

In an interview, Kufisile stated that they had been meeting with Hon. Ibrahim Layode, the Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, and going to various political gatherings in Lagos.

"We are attending different political events in Lagos, and I am the one representing Olorunda Mandate Movement, no controversy since then.

"All the 57 Coordinators of MM in Lagos know ourselves. We even have a special meeting platform in which we operate.

"Different people are now forming groups under Mandate Movement, have different groups in wards.

"Consequently, Hon. Ade Balogun, a Chieftain of APC Olorunda LCDA, created a group under the movement where Prince Fagbamila Marshall belonged. Kufisile said

"Before joining the group, Fagbamila has been playing his politics in Ward A, Badagry before," he said.

According to Chief Kufisile, they all collaborated under Hon. Ibrahim Layode's ICC to install all APC candidates in the 2023 Badagry general election.

Meanwhile A giant banner for the Mandate LGA meeting and six banners representing Olorunda 5 wards were presented to Fagbamila Adewale Marshall on October 24, 2024.

According to Fagbamila, these banners symbolize unity, strength, and loyalty because of his efforts and that of his members as the coordinator of Mandate Movement in Olorunda LCDA.

According to Fagbamila, this development is anticipated to improve the Mandate Movement's capacity to rally support and successfully convey their vision to the populace in Olorunda LCDA.

However,  Fagbamila is still new to the Olorunda LCDA movement, according to Kufisile, who also mentioned that Marshall recently moved to the council's Itoga area after finishing his house there.

"As far as I'm concerned, the choice of who will become the next chairman belongs to the leaders of the party.

In Kufisile's word; "Since I became the chairman of the movement in February, the number of members has increased from 200 to almost 400 members who attend meetings regularly.

"I have been carrying them along always, and that's why they continue to come and join the movement," he said.

According to Kufisile, the Marshall group is merely one of the numerous Mandate Movement groups in Olorunda LCDA.

Although Kufisile asserts that he is the mandate chairman from Ward À, Iworo-Gbanko, Olorunda LCDA, Fagbamila also asserts that his leadership has been approved by the mandate leaders in Lagos and Olorunda.
