The Nigerian Police Force has admitted to abducting Isaac Bristol, also known as PIDOMNigeria, a River State resident suspected of involvement in multiple government leaks and "subversive" operations.
This admission occurred two days after West Africa Weekly's Editor-in-Chief, David Hundeyin, revealed how a suspected intelligence agent who purported to be the detainee's confidant inadvertently verified his kidnapping.
Following the public announcement of PIDOM's sudden disappearance, the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, revealed on Saturday that "over 14 petitions filed by individuals, agencies, and two state governors" led to his arrest in his hotel room in Rivers State on Thursday, August 5, 2024.
According to Adejobi, officers from the Nigeria Police Force National Crime Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) apprehended PIDOM for acts that "undermine the integrity of government operations."
Allegations against him include illegal possession and disclosure of confidential documents, as well as cyber-related offences and others.
Meanwhile, PIDOMNigeria is well-known for high-profile document leaks and online exposés of Nigerian government anomalies and injustices that go unnoticed by the public.
These leaks have created embarrassment at the highest levels of government while also informing the public about questionable actions by individuals, government agencies, and public officials.
