11 members of the Miyetti Allah livestock Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) have been reported missing in Anambra State, together with 33 livestock.

The MACBAN and the Association of Non-Indigenes in Anambra State (ANIAS) have also denied that two suspected kidnappers apprehended in Mgbakwu, Awka North Local Government Area, are associated with their organisations.

The two parties have requested a thorough probe into the purported kidnappings.

They highlighted that MACBAN members are non-indigenous individuals who have established lawful and tangible means of subsistence in the state.

In a statement signed by Gidado Siddiki, Deputy Director General of MACBAN, the association emphasised that all criminals, regardless of ethnic or tribal heritage, should face the consequences of the law.

"Criminals do not discriminate based on background; they are motivated simply by the prospect of ransom. Siddiki stated that the individuals captured in this region are unknown to us and are most likely infiltrators.

He asked security services to thoroughly examine kidnappings in the state and hold those guilty accountable for their acts.

Siddiki further reported that 20 animals belonging to Haruna Mohammed had been slaughtered, and 13 cows owned by Ibrahim Mohammed had gone missing in the same region, along with their owner.

He claimed that due to the deteriorating security situation early this year, all legitimate MACBAN members had left the region.

In a second statement, ANIAS President Prince Chigozie Nweke acknowledged that the organisation keeps a record of all non-indigenes in Anambra State, including MACBAN members.
