Lagos Commissioner Ogunlende secures NFL recruitment for youths

Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, has secured National Football League (NFL) recruitment for qualified Lagos State youths. 

The commissioner On Monday, June 17, 2024, he disclosed this via his social media handles.

He said that the NFL team has conducted an extensive recruitment process, for over five days, talented youths were identified and selected from Lagos and twelve other countries across Africa.

"The recruitment draft has now been finalised, with eight players selected, two from Lagos and six from other African countries."

Ogunlende had earlier received an American NFL contingent to Lagos State and showcased the state’s sports facilities through a strategic tour in January 2024. The visit laid the foundation for a collaborative effort to enhance the prospects of young athletes in Lagos.

Ogunlende, on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, presented the NFL contingent to Mr. Governor at the state house in Marina.

"By partnering with the NFL, the state aims to provide its youth with platforms to showcase their talents and secure opportunities on a global stage." he said.

Ogunlende emphasized that the administration's dedication fosters an environment where every young person in Lagos can thrive. “This collaboration with the NFL is a testament to our commitment to inclusivity and providing ample opportunities for our youth. We are dedicated to empowering our young athletes and showcasing their potential on an international level,” he said.
