The Nigeria Customs Service has commended the Nigerian Army for sustaining the long-lasting synergy that exists between the two agencies.
Comptroller Kola Oladeji, in charge of Federal Operations Unit Zone 'A' Lagos, during a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Army, 243 Recce Battalion headquarters, Ibereko, Badagry, on Thursday, 6 June 2024, conveyed the appreciation of the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR for their support, especially in border communities.
Stating the purpose of his visit, the Unit head said, "we are here to express our sincere appreciation for the cordial relationship in the form of enhanced synergy with the battalion."
"Let me use this forum to formally thank you for the last exercise that would have caused more danger for our operatives, where a gang leader and his cohorts attempted to kill our operatives. I'm happy to say that, with your support, we would de-escalate the situation", the Comptroller stated.
Conveying the CGC's appreciation, Comptroller Oladeji said, "I'd like to let you know that the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, is aware of the assistance you're giving to us in this border area, especially the last exercise of our operation that your men participated fully and he asked me to convey his appreciation to you".
"I will plead that you should continue to support us, and we are looking forward to having a more robust relationship", he added.
In response, the Commanding Officer of Nigerian Army 243 Recce Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdu, appreciated the team's visit while assuring them of their unwavering support.
"We assure you and your men that you have us on reserve for your operations. We are also an agent of government like yours, so we are always here to support you. If you're conducting operations, I assure you, my men are ready, and they will give you the full support". He said.
Comptroller Oladeji and his team also visited His Royal Majesties, De Wheno Aholu Menu-Toyi 1, the Akran of Badagry Kingdom and Oba Sejiro James, Okiki Arolagbade 1st of Kweme Kingdom, seeking their Royal blessings and support for a successful reign.
