UNILORIN expels 14 students for exam malpractice

The management of the University of Ilorin has expelled 14 students, including 500-level students, for a variety of examination violations.

Kunle Akogun, the university's spokesperson, made the announcement on Monday in Ilorin via statement.

Mr Akogun stated that the students were expelled for a variety of documented cases of examination malpractice.

He stated that the institution's management approved their expulsion based on the Students' Disciplinary Committee's recommendations at its 219th meeting, which took place between January 10 and 11, 2024.

According to him, the affected students are 400, 500, 300, and 100 level students.

“The affected students were from Faculties/Departments of Agriculture/Aquaculture and Fisheries; Agriculture/Agricultural
Extension and Rural Development; Arts/Linguistics and Nigerian Languages.

"Some also came from Communication and Information Sciences (CIS)/Library and Information Science, CIS/Telecommunication Science, and Education/Adult and Primary Education Studies.

"Others were from the Department of Engineering and Tech/Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Engineering and Tech/Materials and Metallurgical Engineering; and Life Science/Zoology," a varsity spokesperson explained.

He advised students to avoid practices that were detrimental to their academic progress, stating that the university would not tolerate or spare those who indulged in such illicit behaviour.
