Hon. Sesi Ogungbe |
Hon. Sesi Ogungbe has continued to intensify her strength as she set the paste to break and set an outstanding record as the leading female contender at the 2025 Badagry West local government elections.
Hon. Princess Sesi Ogungbe Yussuf has been described as a woman of substance, courage, and excellence.
Records have it that over the past 23 years, Badagry West LCDA has been governed by male folks. The people believe that it is high time we give Sesi Ogungbe Yussuf a chance to lead the local government and intensify the efforts to improve the standard of the local government through innovation and experience.
It's not just about the slogan, "Obirin Lokan." As people are saying, Hon. Princess Sesi Ogungbe is said to have the EXPERIENCE!
She has worked in the Local Council Development Area for over 14 years, and she's got the needed expertise for leadership positions, especially as the Council Chairman of Badagry West LCDA, haven served under different administrations, such as Hon. Bamgbose Joseph, the political pathfinder, and presently Hon. Gbenu Joseph, the chairman of the masses.
Sesi has served as Special Assistant to the Chairman during Hon. Bamgbose's tenure, she was later appointed by Hon. Gbenu Joseph as Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Badagry West, where she introduced and facilitated several skill training programs in collaboration with NGOs and the Industrial Training Fund (ITF). In her capacity as the Super WAPA, she is passionate about women capacity development, women's empowerment, sensitization, and mobilisation of women for leadership.
Prior to her appointment, she worked with the Lagos State Government for over twelve years, which further confirms her administrative capacity to run a successful LG administration without hitch.
Sesi's level of education is one that surpasses many as a distinguished alumnus of the prestigious Lagos State University (LASU), with a BSc in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management and a Masters degree in Human Resources and Industrial Relations.
Sesi was born and bred in the heart of Lagos, Surulere, until her deep resolve for a transformative return back to her fatherland and home town in Igbogbele, Badagry West, where she first contested as Member House of Assembly in 2011. She was also the only female from the Badagry West axis.
She is not just an indigene of Badagry West, Sesi was born into the royal family of Late Pa Augustine Ogungbe Hungbeji, a successful businessman and a philanthropist who was also an 'Awoist' and a supporter of late Alh. Lateef Jakande. Tata, as fondly called, also served as councillor in the old Badagry Local Government (Division) during Jakande's regime. On the mother side, Sesi took her part from the royal family of Oba Onisiwo of Lagos.
Sesi had travelled far and wide, learning through the streets of Lagos, ranging through Nigeria, Africa, and beyond, which invariably reflected in her ability to relate with people irrespective of tribe, age, class, sex, etc.
Sesi is more than just a woman; she is, by all accounts, a woman with exceptional qualities with a CAN-DO-SPIRIT that only a few men can match, a socialite to the core whose behaviour fits the Lagos political genre.
