The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), has said, a truck lost control at the Alagbon-Olorunda bridge on the Owode-Idiroko Road in Ogun, killing one person and injuring another.
TRACE's South-West region commander, Adekunle Ajibade, told journalists on Saturday in Ota that the collision was caused by speeding.
Mr Ajibade added that the accident, which occurred approximately 4:15 p.m. on Friday, included a Mercedes-Benz lorry with no registration number and a Bajaj motorcycle with the registration number DGB 504 VK.
He went on to say that four people were engaged in the accident, one of whom died and one of whom was injured, while the others escaped unharmed.
According to Mr. Ajibade, the Mercedes-Benz truck lost control owing to speeding and collided with a commercial motorcyclist, plunging him into the river.
"The injured victim was taken to the hospital before our arrival, while the dead one has been claimed by his relatives for the burial rites," he said.
Mr. Ajibade warned motorists and motorbike riders to avoid reckless driving and excessive speeding in order to decrease or eliminate accidents this holiday season.
