Alex Otti and Bad Road used to illustrate the story. |
Governor Alex Otti says his administration is dedicated to building roads to improve Abia's commerce and commercial activity.
This was stated by Mr Otti on Sunday during the launching of the MCC/Old Express Road in Aba.
The governor stated that his administration saw good quality roads as important not only to increasing vehicular transportation but also to enabling companies to thrive.
He said that the government had granted contracts for the restoration and rehabilitation of some key economic development highways.
"We cannot drive the kind of economic rejuvenation that we seek if our most important roads are in bad shape," he remarked.
The constructed road, according to the governor, is proof that the administration has launched a comprehensive restoration of Aba and other sections of the state.
Mr Otti insisted that the road's completion signified that "Aba is open for business" and urged potential investors to take advantage of the myriad opportunities available in Abia.
"Our motivation in government is to create the right environment for people to live out their full potential. We are also interested in assisting enterprise growth and creating a safe haven for legitimately profitable and long-term investments," the Abia governor explained.
Mr Otti also reaffirmed the government's commitment to developing programmes and policies that would promote the formation of the finest investment paths and partnerships, enabling the government to better serve the people.
Mr Otti went on to say that the Abia government had taken steps to permanently address the issue of perennial flooding in Aba, revealing that he had granted contracts for the reconstruction of economically significant highways in local government areas.
"We are working very hard to reconstruct several other roads in about nine LGAs through a special multilateral funding arrangement that gives the state a pathway to fix roads to boost agriculture productivity and produce marketing," he said.
